Venerdì e sabato 18 e 19 novembre 2016 il Museo dei Tasso e della Storia Postale di
Camerata Cornello e l’Archivio Centrale dei Principi Thurn und Taxis, che ha sede nel
castello dove vivono i discendenti tedeschi della Famiglia Tasso, organizzano, presso lo
stesso Archivio (Emmeramsplatz 5, Regensburg -Germania-), il 2° Convegno internazionale
“I Tasso e le poste d’Europa”. Il Convegno si inserisce all’interno del “Progetto Tasso 2012-
2017” ed è organizzato in occasione dei Cinquecento anni dall’incarico definitivo di gestori
e organizzatori delle poste imperiali a Francesco Tasso e al nipote Giovanni Battista Tasso.
Cinquecento anni fa, il 12 novembre 1516, il mastro generale di posta Francesco Tasso e suo
nipote Giovanni Battista, cittadini bergamaschi di Cornello dei Tasso in Valle Brembana, al servizio dell’Impero asburgico, ottennero l’incarico definitivo di gestori e organizzatori unici delle poste imperiali.
Il documento di nomina, redatto a Bruxelles, porta la firma del re di Spagna Carlo I d’Asburgo, che tre anni dopo succederà al nonno Massimiliano I sul trono imperiale col nome di Carlo V. La patente di Bruxelles riprende e amplia due analoghi provvedimenti del 1501 e del 1505, dando così forma definitiva alle regole organizzative delle comunicazioni postali europee. Per tale motivo il documento può a buon diritto essere considerato l’atto ufficiale di nascita delle poste d’Europa.
È stato affermato che l’organizzazione delle poste europee nel Rinascimento ha determinato per il progresso mondiale conseguenze non inferiori a quelle derivate dalla scoperta dell’America. L’affermazione potrebbe sembrare esagerata, tuttavia se si considera il ruolo fondamentale che da allora hanno svolto le comunicazioni, la sua portata non è forse fuori luogo e meriterebbe di essere segnalata all’opinione pubblica.
